District Archaeological Museum, Nellore

The District Archaeological Museum was established in 2006 and located in Saraswathi Nagar, Dargamitta, Nellore Town of S.P.S.R. Nellore District.

At the entrance gallery, the dioramas of pre and proto historic man representing the daily life ways, including manufacture of tool-kits, agriculture, burial practices etc., are shown.

In the right side gallery the Coins,the Epigraphy, Terracotta figurines etc., are displayed in the showcases. In the middle gallery Arms & Weapons consisting of swords, daggers bow and arrows and cannon are displayed.

In the left side gallery the Bronzes, Porcelain, Celadon, Chinese Wares are displayed.

In the centre of the building in open area, the stone sculptures and Architectural members dated from Satavahana (2nd century B.C.)to the Post Vijayanagara periods (17th century A.D.) are on pedestals.

The dioramas of prehistoric man and the arms and weapons gallery are the main attractions to the children.

Visitor Facilities : Clean, cool drinking water and good toilets are available.
Timings :The Museum is open from 10.30 AM to 5.00 PM and closed on Fridays and Public Holidays.
Entry Fee : Rs.3/- for adults and Rs.1/- for children
